Going Gray...

Hubby and I decided to paint our bedroom gray...so I have been looking through countless magazines and blogs to find the perfect gray {not and easy task}.  I have accumulated a very large list of grays to check out at the paint store.  Here are a few inspirational photos of what we have in mind...

Fabric Love...

Late yesterday afternoon there was a knock at the door {probably my neighbor} but nope it was the UPS guy delivering my fabric and Scentsy goodies {I sell Scensty by the way}.  I love getting stuff in the mail!   I rushed to open the fabric box first.  I've never ordered fabric online before and I was a little curious to see it in person...all the prints are beautiful!!!!  I can't wait to start making more pillows, dish mats, and banners.  The dish mats are a new thing that I'm making {found out about them from Darby @ fly through our window} .  I have made two of them and love 'em!  I have a dishwasher but find that I have to hand wash a lot of things so it's nice to be able to set them on a dish mat instead of having to instantly hand dry them...plus the mats are so cute to look at.   I use two coordinating prints that I cut into strips then sew them together and add a white terry cloth towel for the bottom. They are very handy to have in the kitchen.

The second box was Scentsy goodies...I went out of my comfort zone and ordered fruity scents and I love them!  Normally we are all about the baked goods, cinnamon, home~y scents but it was sunny outside when I placed the orders so I figured why not try something different!  So happy I did!    Thank you to everyone who ordered!

Another surprise...my mom made a new slipcover for my ironing board...take a look.   I'm so pleased with it, she did a great job! I had purchased a Shabby Chic duvet cover years ago from a posh boutique on 23rd and used it for a long time til it started to rip {insert sad face} so I started to make pillows out of it.  I had a bunch left over and decided to use it for the ironing board.  Love it! Thanks mom!

Have a great weekend!

Wednesday Night...

I heart Wednesday nights!  All of my favorite shows are on the same night and they don't conflict with eachother!!!  It all starts with Modern Family then Cougar Town and just added to the line up Blue Bloods.  The first two make me laugh so hard and wonder if they have a hidden video camera in my house :) and Blue Bloods is a great crime/drama {used to love Law and Order...now not so much...too many changes}.  I love me some Tom Selleck!  Plus a shout out to Donnie Wahlberg {I admit... I was a hard core NKOTB fan}

I was given "homework" from big sisters preschool {cutting out a few dozen hearts}so I'm trying the crank those babies out quickly before my shows start.  Happy Wednesday!

New bedding...

I ordered some new bedding online and it arrived yesterday...not what I thought it would be!  So, back to the store it went and back to square one.  We have needed new bedding {plus a new mattress} for a few years!  When you have two little kids you don't want bedding that you have to worry/fuss over cause kids are always going to want to jump on it, eat snacks, apply lotion {lotion is no longer kept on my nightstand} which stains it all!  Come to think of it maybe we will wait another year till we look for new bedding...  Until then here are more pics of dreamy bedrooms...

Thank you and more inspiring pictures...

I just wanted to say thank you for all your wonderful comments and encouragement!  I'm so lucky to have wonderful friends and family! Thanks!!!

So, I've been browsing sites for inspirational home photos and found a few that I wanted to share.  I've noticed that my style is evolving again {insert Mr. Fix~it sighing} My sis in law always jokes that hubby and I are beige people...we are ok with that :) however now that we have little girls I'm embracing the idea of color...light pops of color.  I guess I lean towards traditional, shabby chic, and coastal to name a few.  I have made baby steps with colorful throw pillows and hope to add more and more color...

Banners and a Curtain Addition...

My mom and dad bought me my first sewing machine about 6 months ago {thank you!} and ever since I have been making fabric banners for my girls bedroom and play room {good practice}.  To say I'm in love with them would be an understatement!  I know very little about sewing so I was very excited when I finished my first banner!  They add color and fill up large chunks of wall space while looking sweet and happy!

I hope to start selling them at local craft bazaars along with the millions of pillow covers I have been making!  Oh, one more thing I added cute pom pom rick rack to the girls' blackout drapes and they turned out so cute! So take a look and tell me what you think...

In The Kitchen

So, I've spent a large chunk of my day so far in the kitchen.  Mr Fix~it made pancakes and eggs this morning...I cleaned up!  If you know him you would know that the clean up takes longer than the cooking and the eating combined!  I love you honey :)

I went the grocery store and when I got home to put the groceries away I noticed that my fridge was looking a little yucky!  So out came the cleaning supplies.  Before I know it it's lunch time for the girls, two different kinds of sandwiches of course (gotta love the polar opposites)  Then I started prepping for tonight's dinner, teryaki chicken...yum!  With all this time spent in the kitchen I thought it would be fun to check out other amazing kitchens.  Here you go... {all pics Country Living}
