I have been busy painting...I'm halfway done with the downstairs.  I have to be honest...I'm a little worried about the color!  I'm not as in love with it as I thought I would be...hubby loves it so that makes me happy!  Instead of a beige/gray/blue I see lavender {not good!}...what do you see?

 I hope you had a great weekend!

{our weekend}

I have been itching to make some changes around the house...so I started with the downstairs half bath.  I bought a quart of Ben Moore Hale Navy and painted over the white vanity.  I love the contrast and color!  I also painted the numbers on the little foot stool...I'm really pleased with how it turned out.

 love the antique mason jar soap pump {available at our "little corner"}
 A dear friend of mine was in town from Texas and we went antiquing last week...found this great metal number "4".  Thanks for a great day Molly :)
 I completed a pillow order {thanks "neighbor Molly"}...they turned out great if I don't say so myself!
 We decided that it is time to paint the interior of the house...it's been 4 years, the builder used cheap paint that is not washable and it's a horrible pinky beige color.  I have been at the paint store countless times searching for the perfect color {I now realize it doesn't exist} but I think I have come close...can you see the difference?  I got a large sample can from Sherwin Williams and had them match Ben Moore Revere Pewter...it's supposed to be the perfect beige/grey color {hubby and I are beige people...we are stepping outside the box adding grey...lol!}.  I have been painting swatches all over the house...terrified to make a final decision...have another week til the paint goes on sale and a decision has to be made...what do you think?
 {sorry for the grainy pic...I should have used the flash...oops}

I stocked up our little corner at the antique mall...it's full to the brim!
 Have you been in there yet!?!

{a new addition and our backyard}

We got chickens...{again...}
Meet Stella and Dottie
Hubby built an addition to the chicken coup...now the new chickens have room to roam :)

 We have also been doing a lot of work in the backyard...it's by no means complete but it is getting close!  We spend a ton of time back here...it gets the morning sun and is perfectly shaded in the afternoon...perfect for an afternoon swing!
 My mom and I removed all the grass and replaced it with river rock.  The grass would get all soggy and was turning into moss...I'm pleased with how the river rock turned out...the girls like to play in it too :)

 Outdoor towel area is a must!
 We eat a ton of meals out here...it's so enjoyable!  I {heart} summer!
 Sweet Lucy Goosey!

{exciting news}

I have some very exciting news...
I rented a booth at our local antique mall.  It's called DJ's Antique Mall...if you are familiar with Oregon City it is just off Washington St next to the End of the Oregon Trail Museum {the old auction building}
I will be selling my handmade goods {pillows, bunting, papermache letters, vintage mason jar soap pumpers, burp cloths} plus fun treasures I have found.  I will be all set up Monday...ready to be shopped on Wednesday!  Please come by and take a look if you are in the area!

My wonderful hubby has been working hard putting together some display pieces for me.  A dear friend let us borrow an adorable dresser that hubby re purposed by adding shelves.  Plus we have been busy painting a garage sale piece that will go on top of the dresser.  I can't wait for you to see it all together...below are a few pictures of our progress...much more to come :)

Wish me luck...
 My foyer is quickly filling up with handmade goodies and found treasurers...I'm like a kid at Christmas...this is so much fun!
 I found this little stool and painted the 1 on it...pretty darn cute if I don't say so myself!
 I have had a blast making these fun letters...I hope people like them as much as I do...
 Isn't this dresser cute!?! {thanks Cindi!} Hubby took the bottom two drawers out and made shelves for my product...
 This display piece will go on top of the dresser giving me some height!  I still need to distress it a bit...I can't wait for you to see it all together...it looks great on top of the dresser!
We painted this and hubby added bead board to the back...so cute...thanks hubby!  I'm hoping I will be able to fit this piece in my space!  It's a small space...only 3'x3' but I'm going to maximize it as much as I can :)

Will show you finished pictures as soon as I'm set up this Monday!

{facing my fears}

Hi my name is Maris and I'm terrified of birds!

Here it goes...
While hubby was out of town for work last week my mom, the girls, and I went to the local pet store to take a look at birds {I made sure to get hubby's approval} Let me back up a little...last summer hubby and I spotted an antique bird cage at an antique mall at the coast.  We both fell in love with the look but not the price tag {$125}...fast forward a month later...hubby and I are at a garage sale in town and spot a similar bird cage.  It was our Anniversary so hubby said go ahead and buy it...$25 later we were the new owners of a beautiful antique bird cage!  We really had no intentions of putting a bird in it...just setting it out as an antique.
Back to last week...
For some reason {I claim temporary insanity} I felt that buying a bird to put in the beautiful cage would be a swell idea...I figured I wouldn't have to hold it or anything...that would be hubby and the girls' fun job. I have always loved the look of birds and their sweet little chirps but for some reason they scare the shit out of me...it could be the unpredictable wing flapping, their boney bodies, their beady little eyes...I could go on...but the girls got so excited with the thought of having a new pet.  So off we went to the bird store...we all fell in love with this little guy...he is a "pocket parrot" and so darn cute!
Meet Olly...
 Hard working man hands :)
 Ok...this is HUGE for me...it only took me 4 days and many screaming fits running around the house like a crazy person to let Olly onto my finger.  Hubby kept saying your 4 and 6 year old can hold him but you can't...I had to prove that I could do it!
 This is the look of complete concentration and fear...but I did it!  Don't get me wrong...he still scares the poop out of me but at least I can have him on my finger and not be such a big sissy!

 Hubby showing off...clearly he is not scared of birds {i'm so jealous!}

My name is Maris and I'm still a little afraid of birds...
